Our Story
HerKind (formerly Black Girls Miami) began Feb 7, 2022 with a simple desire: to help Black women in Brickell find each other offline. What started as a small WhatsApp chat for coffee dates, walks and brunch has grown into a commuity of over 1,600 women across South Florida. We exist for women who are building bigger lives — career , businesses, families and don’t want to do it alone. HerKind curates rooms where you don’t have to shrink, explain, or translate. You get to be.
Meet Our Founder
HerKind began the way most meaningful things do — from a need your couldn't ignore.
Moving to Miami in 2021, from New York, I had a deep longing for deeper connection in a city that is seen as superficial.
So in 2022, I created a simple WhatsApp group. Just a handful of women in Brickell looking for coffee dates, beach walks, brunch companions. It was small. It was vulnerable. It was exactly what I needed.
What happened next changed everything.
Within weeks, we weren't just meeting for coffee — we were creating lifelines. The group grew from a few friends to hundreds, then over 1,600 women across South Florida. Not because of marketing or strategy, but because we were filling a void that so many of us felt but rarely named.
We were building our own table.
I've always been fascinated by how spaces shape relationships — how the right environment can help people exhale, unmask, and show up whole. I'd seen it in the dinner parties I hosted in my Harlem apartment.
This isn't about having one mind or one experience — it's about exploring the intersectional tension of being different and similar. It's about creating spaces where multidimensional women can gather without pretense, where connection is intentional and community feels like homecoming.
Today, HerKind offers curated gatherings, thoughtful digital spaces, and a growing membership for those seeking deeper engagement. But our essence remains unchanged: we create meaningful, real-life connection for women who are building lives that honor their whole selves.

My hope is that you find your KIND here. Because belonging isn't a luxury. It's how we remember who we are.
